HYDERABAD: Former minister T Harish Rao, accompanied by MLA Chinta Prabhakar, on Tuesday visited home guard Gopal who was grievously injured in a demolition operation at the Malkapur Tank in Sangareddy. Gopal is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Harish Rao claimed that no senior police officer visited Gopal since the incident occurred. "Are home guards considered nonentities by the authority?" Gopal's family already incurred Rs 1 lakh in his treatment, for which the government has not provided any aid in recovering medical expenses.

The family was also disappointed that Gopal has not received his salary for the last four months. They shared their financial constraints stating that it is not possible to cope both with the cost of medication and the daily household expenses without the salary. The head injury resulted in speech impairment, and doctors have recommended that Gopal undergo speech therapy for four months to get back on his feet.

It happened while detonators, termed as dangerous and posed to be highly risky in demolition processes, were used without proper safety measures. In that very process, Gopal got injured. Harish Rao berated the government for this negligence and called for immediate support to Gopal and his family, saying that the authorities must stop evading and take the right decision.
