HYDERABAD The Telangana Government distributed keys to a total of 11,700 double bedroom housing units on Saturday as part of the implementation of the Dignity Housing Scheme for the poor in the city.

Under this initiative, approximately 500 beneficiaries in each constituency were selected through a lottery system to receive these homes.

The largest portion of the scheme, consisting of 3,300 units located in Kollur and Ameenpur townships, was distributed to beneficiaries from Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Serilingampally, Rajendranagar, Patancheru, Goshamahal, Nampally, and Karwan. Finance Minister T Harish Rao presided over the distribution, delivering the keys to eager homeowners.

During the event, Harish Rao remarked, "People who have received these double bedroom houses are overjoyed. They now own homes worth Rs 60 lakh without having to spend a single rupee. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is credited with providing houses to the less fortunate in prime locations, where even the rich reside."

He continued by contrasting the Telangana Government's actions with the opposition parties, stating, "The Congress and the BJP are known for staging protests and not taking effective action. The BJP, in particular, tends to talk more and act less. Did their double engine Government, give double bedroom anywhere? Theirs is not a double engine but a trouble engine sarkar."

The Minister proudly declared, "We are providing one lakh double bedroom homes throughout Hyderabad, complete with all necessary facilities, including hospitals and ration shops. Additionally, we plan to introduce RTC bus services to enhance accessibility as requested by Goshamahal MLA Rajasingh."

In a testament to Telangana's commitment to inclusivity and communal harmony, Harish Rao emphasised, "KCR is a leader who respects all religions, whether Hindu, Muslim, or Christian. We plan to build temples, churches, and mosques, as well as function halls."

Meanwhile, Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav handed over 2,664 2BHK Dignity Homes in Bahadurpally, Gajularamaram, and D-Pochampally localities in Quthbullapur, constructed at a cost of Rs 227.79 crore. Speaking after the distribution, Talasani said that KCR had formulated the housing scheme for the poor and needy for a dignified living.

Deputy Speaker Padmarao also distributed 1,000 out of 2,208 double bedroom houses in Pratap Singaram in Medchal District. Of this, five hundred houses were given to the beneficiaries of Amberpet constituency and another five hundred houses were handed over to the beneficiaries of LB Nagar constituency. The Deputy Speaker said that once every ten days, double bedroom houses would be distributed to beneficiaries.

Education Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy distributed 2,230 units built in Mankhal, providing dignified housing to many constituents. Of these, 500 units from Mankhal-I was given to beneficiaries from Maheshwaram constituency, and 1,730 units to 500 beneficiaries each from Malakpet, Yakutpura and Charminar constituencies, besides 230 from Chandrayangutta.

Hyderabad Mayor Vijayalakshmi and Deputy Mayor Srilatha distributed 500 2BHK Dignity homes to beneficiaries at Sai Nagar Colony in Uppal, while AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi and Home Minister Mahmood Ali inaugurated 820 flats at Farooq Nagar.

In total, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is constructing one lakh homes in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Sanga Reddy districts in 111 different locations. A significant number of homes have already been constructed.

A staggering 7.09 lakh applicants from these districts applied for these 2 BHK houses through various application methods, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), Meeseva (online), and offline application processes.
