Heavy rains wreak havoc on Khammam-Warangal highway, traffic disrupted

HYDERABAD; Incessant rains across Telangana State is wreaking havoc, disrupting normal life for the last five days. Ponds and rivers are overflowing and villages are being cut off.
The Warangal-Khammam highway has been flooded with rainwater causing a lot of traffic disruptions. On Tuesday, heavy inflow of rainwater on Panti Highway brought traffic to come to a grinding halt for a distance of 5 km, with a lorry getting stuck in the floodwaters. The locals had to take a lot of effort to retrieve the lorry from water.
The Narsampet-Nekkonda Road has also been impacted by rains leading to traffic disruptions at an underpass. Similar is the situation on the Nekkonda-Gudur Road and Gundrapalli and Pattipaka Road in Nekkonda mandal. The water level in Pakala Pond in Khanapuram Mandal of Warangal district has reached 21 feet, indicating the severity of the flooding in that area.
In Nizamabad, heavy traffic caused a river to breach its bank in Velpur, resulting in floodwaters inundating the roads and even reaching the local police station.
