HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party and the State Government over a PIL concerning allotment of 11 acres of land to the BRS party in Kokapet. The PIL was filed by the Forum for Good Governance (FGG) last week arguing that when one acre of land was worth Rs 50 crore in the market, the entire piece of land was given away to the BRS for a much lesser price for just Rs 3.41 crore.

While the Telangana Government claimed that the allotment was done for establishing a human resources development centre, the plea by FGG Secretary M Padmanabha Reddy questioned the necessity of a new center when institutions like the Marri Channa Reddy HRD Institute already existed in Hyderabad which served the same purpose.

Padmmanabha added that this was merely a cover story and that the real motive behind the allotment of land was to set up a party office for BRS. He said that the BRS already had an office at Banjara Hills and there was no need for another office in Hyderabad at the cost of public money. He claimed that the land allotment documents too were kept a secret.

The High Court issued notices to the BRS and the Telangana Government and asked them to file a counter before the next date of hearing on August 16.
