HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court has dealt a blow to defected MLAs by refusing to stay the disqualification order against them.

The affected MLAs include Danam Nagender, Kadiam Srihari, and Tellam Venkata Rao, who won their seats on a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) ticket but subsequently defected to the Congress.

The High Court Division Bench rejected the request to stay the recent Single Bench verdict on their disqualification. The Division Bench noted that interim relief could not be granted. It is noteworthy that the Single Bench had given its ruling on the disqualification of these MLAs around 20 days ago, which was subsequently challenged by the Assembly Secretary.

The disqualification petition had initially been filed by the BRS against the defected MLAs.
