High-powered committee meeting on Nagarjunasagar dam postponed to December 8

HYDERABAD: The high-powered committee meeting convened by the secretary of the Jal Shakti Ministry on the management of the Nagarjunasagar dam to be held in New Delhi on Wednesday is postponed to December 8.
The Jal Shakti ministry in a letter said that the meeting was postponed due to the severe cyclonic conditions prevailing in Andhra Pradesh. Chief secretaries of both the Telugu States, Director CRPF, chairpersons of CWC, and KRMB were supposed to attend the meeting in person in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, the engineer-in-chief of the irrigation and command area development department of Telangana C Muralidhar, in a letter to the chairperson of KRMB on Tuesday, asked the board to restore the position before November 28, handing over the management of the dam to Telangana.
Andhra Pradesh police and irrigation officials forcibly took the management of the right section of the dam, while the AP Reorganisation Act gave the responsibility of the management of Nagarjunasagar to Telangana and that of Srisailam to AP.
