IMD issues 'Orange' heatwave alert for Telangana on April 27- April 30
The highest maximum temperature of 43.0°C was recorded at the CMTC premises in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange heatwave alert in Telangana from April 27 to April 30, 2024.
The IMD has also issued a yellow warning from April 25 to April 26, 2024. The highest maximum temperature of 45.1°C was recorded at Teekya Thanda (Nalgonda), whereas the state's daily maximum average temperature is 40.7°C, compared to the normal 40.4°C.
The highest maximum temperature of 43.0°C was recorded at the CMTC premises in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The GHMC's daily maximum average temperature is 40.9°C, compared to the normal 39.6°C.
According to Telangana Weatherman T Balaji, a massive heatwave is expected to start from April 25, continuing for the next 10-15 days or even longer. "Almost every day, Hyderabad is recording 43°C, and 45°C in Telangana. Things are expected to worsen from April 26, as we are likely to face a serious heatwave with temperatures reaching 46-47°C in East Telangana and 44°C in Hyderabad (almost every day). I urge people to take utmost precautions," he added.

Heatwave (yellow) conditions are very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet districts of Telangana as an 'orange' alert issued on April 27, 2024.
