HYDERABAD: Under the influence of cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining coast of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha, a low-pressure area has been formed resulting in heavy to very heavy rains in parts of Telangana.

Accordingly, India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange category warning for three more days. It gave directions to the civic authorities on the possible impact of the heavy rains and the necessary action to be initiated to save lives and properties.

In its special weather forecast, the IMD warned of heavy to moderate rains in many places in the coming three days in Telangana. On Thursday and Friday, the weather could turn dangerous with heavy rains coupled with gusty winds up to 40-50 km lashing many areas of the State. The IMD also warned of thunderstorms in isolated areas.

The civic authorities and general public were warned of water logging in low-lying areas in Warangal, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, and Mahabubnagar districts. Heavy rains are very likely to occur at isolated places in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Hanamkonda, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts.

The IMD warned about the disruption of rail and road transport in a few areas of these districts, disruption of power supply for a few hours, clogging and overflowing of drainages and submergence of agricultural crops.
