HYDERABAD: The tussle between BRS Government and Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan was evident once again on Friday with the Governor seeking "some more time" to examine the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (Absorption of Employees into Government Service) Bill, 2023.
The BRS Government was determined to pass the TSRTC merger Bill in the ongoing Assembly session. As it was technically a financial Bill, the State Government had sent it for Governor's consent. However, an official statement from Raj Bhavan said that it received, "Only a draft Bill of The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (Absorption of Employees into Government Service) Bill, 2023 on August 2, 2023 at about 3.30 pm requesting for permission to introduce the same in Assembly."
“It requires some more time to examine it and obtain legal opinion for taking a decision on the request,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU) had warned that it would lay siege to Raj Bhavan on Saturday if the Governor did not pass the TSRTC Bill during the ongoing Assembly session. TMU General Secretary Thomas Reddy said, “It is not correct on the part of the Governor to not approve the TSRTC Bill proposed by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) to benefit 43,373 families of RTC employees. If not, RTC employees will attend to their duties with black badges as a mark of protest."
