Job scam: 5 Sircilla youths stranded at Dubai airport, KTR responds
Five job aspirants have fallen prey to one more employment scam and, as a result, are currently stranded in Dubai
HYDERABAD: Five job aspirants from Telangana, four from Siricilla and one from Nizamabad, have fallen prey to one more employment scam and, as a result, are currently stranded in Dubai. The youngsters, who were cheated in the name of employment in the posh Emirati state, were also denied their return journey to India. Holed up in the Dubai Airport and clueless, they sent out an SoS video for help, to which Telangana Minister and Sircilla legislator K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) responded immediately. He appealed to the Indian Consulate in Dubai to immediately intervene and bail the distraught men out of the misery.
Reportedly, a company in Dubai conducted interviews in Sircilla through agents in Vemulawada and Nizamabad districts. The five men claimed in their video that, upon their arrival in Dubai, they were not provided with the salaries and work, as promised to them earlier.
In what is a common unscrupulous practice in such cases, the company filed a case against them on charges of creating nuisance under the influence of alcohol, after they remained unrelenting in their protest. The youngsters demanded their passports back and booked their tickets to India, to which the company agreed later.
The youngsters were supposed to arrive in India on Saturday. But to their shock, they were stopped at the airport claiming that there were cases booked against them. The police, who had checked their passports, stopped them from boarding the flight. The youths also claimed that their tickets were torn off.
The youths received no help, support or even a response from the agents and the company when they made frantic efforts to contact them. Their worried parents in India requested the Union Government to intervene and bail out their children from this situation. As per their claims, the youngsters have been waiting outside the Dubai airport with no proper food or water for the last three days.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Minister KTR tweeted in response to the plight of the youths. Tagging the Indian Consulate in Dubai to immediately intervene and extend its help.
