HYDERABAD: Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission has sought former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s (KCR) explanation on the alleged irregularities in power purchase agreements (PPAs) when he was CM.
The notice sought a detailed response on his alleged involvement in PPAs during his tenure by June 15.
In response, KCR sought more time till July 30.
The commission would be probing the alleged irregularities in the PPAs with a special focus on the contracts for the Yadadri and Damaracharla power plants. There was also a proposal to purchase 1,000 MW of power from Chhattisgarh.

When Suresh Chanda worked in the Energy Department, he was involved in the controversial proposal to purchase electricity from Chhattisgarh.

The Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission was established to unearth the alleged irregularities in the PPAs of the Chhattisgarh Government as well as the Bhadradri and Yadadri power projects. As part of the ongoing investigation, notices would soon be issued to other officials involved in these PPAs.
