Karnataka Deputy CM D K Shivakumar says his government giving only 5-hour power to farmers
He said three hours of power supply was sufficient to pump water to the small landholdings in the State
HYDERABAD: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has publicly admitted that Karnataka is giving only five hours of power supply to agriculture.
Addressing a public meeting in street corner meeting in Vikarabad district, Shiva Kumar blurted out, “We are giving five…five…five hours of power supply to farmers.” The video with his statement clearly indicated that the farmers were not getting 24-hour power supply.
Telangana has been giving 24-hour free power to farmers for more than five years.
During his recent visit to the United States of America at an interactive session during Telugu Association of North America (TANA) meetings, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president A Revanth Reddy said that three hours of power supply was enough for farmers and that it’s a waste to give 24-hour free electricity to farmers.
He said three hours of power supply was sufficient to pump water to the small landholdings in the State.
The State Government has been maintaining that 95 percent of landholdings in the State were less than three acres.
The KCR Government launched a trenchant attack on the Congress state president for demeaning the farmers and their interests. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has been campaigning ever since that if the Congress is voted to power, the farmers would be deprived of the 24-hour free power.
Justifying the BRS campaign, D K Shiva Kumar asserted that the Congress Government in Karnataka was giving only five hours of power supply to the farers.
This proved the campaign by the BRS was correct. Naturally, farmers became wary of the Congress, as a facility that was offered to help them make their both ends meet would permanently be stopped.
