HYDERABAD: Former Minister and Senior BRS leader Vemula Prashanth Reddy has said that both the BJP and the Congress have cheated the farmers of Nizamabad in the name of National Turmeric Board and reopening of the defunct Nizam sugar factory.

In a statement here on Tuesday he criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for blaming BRS MLC K Kavitha for failing to bring the board to Nizamabad.

“Congress cheated Nizamabad farmers for five decades in the name of turmeric board. BJP MP Arvind promised the board and the Narendra Modi Government to keep the board in cold storage for over a decade. Even today there is no address of the turmeric board ” Prashanth Reddy.

Pointing out that it was Kavitha who was not even an MP, moved heaven and earth and got the acceptance letters from Chief Ministers of four states and paved the way for the announcement of the establishment of the board. “On the other hand Revanth Reddy is trying to cheat Nizamabad farmers by promising that he would reopen the Sugar factory on September 17,” Prashanth Reddy said.

Recalling the police firing on Red Jowar (Erra Jonnalu) farmers by the erstwhile Congress Government, Prashanth Reddy said that K Chandrashekar Rao paid Rs 11 crore on behalf of farmers and lifted fake cases slapped against them by the Congress Government.

He urged farmers not to believe the false promises of the Congress Government. “What happened to the Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver, Rs 500 bonus for paddy, Rytu Bandhu?” he said.Kavitha fought for turmeric board, Revanth Reddy cheating farmers in name of sugar factory: Prashanth Reddy
