Kawal Tiger Reserve: 20 Mouse deer, six Chital deer released in Jannaram forest
Field officers carefully designed mouse deer enclosures, which were complemented with local ideas and resources
ADILABAD: As part of Telangana State's conservation mouse deer breeding program, up to 20 mouse deer and six chital deer were released from the zoo to enclosures in Jannaram, Kawal Tiger Reserve, during a wildlife workshop on Wednesday.
Lokesh Jaiswal, PCCF (Chief Wildlife Warden), was inaugurated the wildlife workshop in Jannaram, Kawal Tiger Reserve. Dr Muratkar, a grassland expert, was requested to lead sessions on indigenous grasses, legumes and protocols for tiger landscape field employees.
Field director C.P. Vinod Kumar highlighted the best practises of the Kawal Tiger Reserve in grassland management and watershed ecosystems. DFOs, field staff and tiger reserve employees from the Tiger-bearing areas of Mahabubabad, Kothagudem, Khammam, Mulugu, and Bhupalpally were asked to adopt best practises from the Kawal Tiger Reserve.
The Chief Wildlife Warden was formally inaugurated the Chital Breeding Centre at Kawal Tiger Reserve, and six deer were released into this enclosure, with more spotted deer (50 in phases) to be released from our State's source populations.
