KCR cuts short his speech at Mahabubabad, following ban on his campaign by ECI, calls cadre for 96-hour marathon work
After the ECI barred him from campaigning for 48 hours for his remarks against the Congress at Sircilla, BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) cut short his speech in Mahabubabad here on Wednesday.
MAHABUBABAD: After the Election Commission of India barred him from campaigning for 48 hours for his "objectionable" remarks against the Congress at Sircilla, Bharat Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) cut short his speech here on Wednesday.
Addressing a massive gathering at Mahabubabad on the eighth day of his successful ‘Porubaata Bus Yatra’, KCR said that he was forced to shorten his speech because he was barred from addressing meetings for two days.
“While I was barred from addressing you, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy who used foul language against me was left scot-free,” KCR observed. He called upon the BRS cadre everywhere to work for the success of party candidates non-stop for 96 hours.
Reminding the people of Mahbubabad that Revanth Reddy had declared that he would scrap the district status given to Mahbubabad while he carved more districts to decentralise administration after the formation of the State.
“For five decades the region was parched for drinking and irrigation water. SRSP stage two never realised. It was only after I built the Kaleshwaram project water came to Vennavaram canal that the BRS Government has dug,’ KCR said.
Condemning the Congress Government’s indifferent attitude towards the Autorickshaw drivers who lost their livelihood because of the free bus service, KCR said that even though he had no problem with the facility provided for the women, the Government should have thought about the impact of the scheme on Autorickshaw drivers and their livelihood.
“Such mindless decisions are taking the lives of innocent farmers too. One farmer in Choppadandi of Karimanagr died heartbroken at a paddy procurement centre as there was no one to purchase his paddy,” KCR pointed out.
KCR said that the Chief Minister must open his mouth and oppose the proposed linking of Godavari with Cauveri to provide water to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. “On the other hand, he handed over Krishna River to KRMB. Here in Khammam and Dornakal, there is a severe scarcity of drinking water. What happened to the Mission Bhagiratha scheme,” KCR observed.
Earlier an official from the ECI handed over the orders of the ECI barring him from addressing public meetings or press conferences for 48 hours while he was in his caravan. KCR obliged and politely signed the papers.
