HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi supremo K Chandrashekar Rao has finalised the candidatures on behalf of the party to contest the Legislative Council elections under the MLAs’ quota.

The Chief Minister on Tuesday announced the names of MLC K Naveen Kumar, Chief Minister’s OSD Deshapati Srinivas, and kin of former President of India Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy’s kin Challa Venkatarami Reddy for the upcoming vanacies under the MLAs’ quota to contest the legislative council elections.

All three candidates will file the nominations on March 9. The Chief Minister asked Legislative Affairs Minister Vemula Prashant Reddy and BRS General Secretary Palla Rajeshwar Reddy to make arrangements for the filing of nominations by the three candidates.

Names of the two candidates to be nominated to the Upper House of the legislature under the Governor’s quota would be finalised after the Cabinet meeting.

Kurmaiahgari Naveen Kumar was first elected to the Legislative Council on June 7, 2019 through a byelection for a casual vacancy caused due to the resignation of Mynampalli Hanumanth Rao who was elected as the Member of the State Legislative Assembly. He is a close aide of working president of the party K T Rama Rao.

Deshapati Srinivas is the officer on special duty in the office of the Telangana Chief Minister and he had actively participated in the separate Telangana movement along with KCR. He was a school teacher.

Challa Venkatarami Reddy is the grandson of former President of India Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy.
