HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao unveiled 466 new ambulances and 228 Amma Vodi transport vehicles on Tuesday at Peoples Plaza in Necklace Road.

As many as 34 vehicles are Hearse Vehicles, which are used to provide specific services such as free transportation of the deceased's bodies back to their native area.

This historic occasion, according to Health Minister Harish Rao, who was also present at the occasion, represents an important milestone in enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of emergency medical aid for the people of Telangana.

Harish Rao highlighted the state's tremendous success since its inception, citing the increase in the number of ambulances from 316 to 455. He said that earlier there was only one 108 vehicle for every 100,000 people, but now there's a vehicle for every 75,000 people.

He lauded the efficacy of healthcare initiatives, including Amma Vodi, which serves 4,000 people daily, and 108, which serves 2,000 people on a daily basis.

The average ambulance arrival time had been reduced from 30 minutes to 15 minutes in order to improve emergency response times and ensure a dynamic fleet position, he said. Harish Rao also announced a salary boost for 108 employees in recognition of their significant accomplishments and dedication to public service.
