HYDERABAD: Police constable P Kishtaiah Mudiraj died of suicide with his service revolver in Kamareddy on December 1, 2009, for the sake of separate Telangana.

BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) stood by the bereaved family and ensured that Kishtaiah’s children Rahul and Priyanka studied well without any interruption for want of money.

On State Formation Day on Sunday, Kishtaiah’s wife Padmavathi and two children met BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao at his Nandi Hills residence and had lunch with him. KCR also handed over a cheque for Rs 25 lakh for the postgraduate medical education of Priya, who completed her MBBS with the financial assistance given by KCR.

KCR enquired about the nature of the job done by Rahul. "You were small children when your father died sacrificing his life for the state. Even in difficult times, your mother stood strong. Your mother should not face any problems. You will have my support at any time,” KCR said reminding them of their responsibilities.

KCR said that the present Congress Government should continue the same spirit with which the martyrs who made sacrifices for the cause of Telangana were supported by his Government.

Kishtaiah's family thanked KCR for taking care of them like head of the house. Padmavathi, wife of slain policeman Kishtaiah, said: "Today marks the completion of 10 years of fulfilling the aspirations of four crore people of Telangana. It has been 15 years since Kishtaiah died. That day, I came to KCR sir like my father, holding small children. On that day, KCR said he was with our family. "

"My father sacrificed his life for Telangana when we were in sixth class. My father died when we were too young to understand anything. KCR sir promised that he would support our family.

My mother is a single parent and KCR is supportive in every way. My father's dream came true. But, sadly, we don't have a father," Rahul, son of a Kishtaiah said,
