HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government has issued directions to the Collector of Warangal district to give a suitable job to the brother of Rakesh Damera who succumbed to bullet injuries in the June 17 police firing on protestors against 'Agnipath' scheme in Secunderabad railway station.

Aspirants of Army jobs protested the Agnipath scheme at Secunderabad railway station. Damera Rakesh, a youth from Dabirpet in Khanapur mandal of Warangal district, fell to a bullet injury and later succumbed when RPF personnel opened fire to quell a protesting mob. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) had announced a financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to his family. He also said that a job would be given an eligible person in the family.

Consequently, the Telangana Government on Friday issued directions to give Rakesh's brother Ramaraj a job based on his qualifications. Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar has issued orders to Warangal district collector to give the job under a compassionate appointment.

Damera Rakesh has one brother and two sisters. One sister is already serving in the Army. Rakesh tried to join the Army drawing inspiration from her. It was in this context that he took part in the agitation at the Secunderabad railway station on June 17 against the Agnipath scheme and was killed in the firing.
