HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Friday ruled out opting for early elections in the state. Addressing the extended executive meeting of the BRS held at Telangana Bhavan, he made it clear that the state would go to polls as per the original schedule. He said that all the surveys were favourable to the BRS to retain power in the State for the third consecutive time.

The meeting was attended by the BRS Ministers, legislators, party district unit presidents and other functionaries even as KCR gave a clear direction on the way forward to the party rank and file on a host of issues including the elections appearing on the horizon. In a key message, the BRS chief asked all the party leaders to spend maximum time with the general public and stay connected with the electorate until the next elections.

He advised them to undertake padayatras in their respective pockets to identify civic issues that needed attention. Corner meetings and public meetings should be organised extensively to beat out the BJP, he added.

KCR also asked his partymen to leave no stone unturned to effectively counter the BJP’s criticism against the BRS Government. Exposing the BJP-led NDA government’s anti-people’s policies and failures should also take top priority, he felt.

Before the start of the meeting, KCR paid tributes to party’s Cantonment MLA Sayanna by garlanding his portrait. Sayanna has recently passed away in Hyderabad.
