KCR touches emotional cord with Medak people in maiden election meeting, appeals to vote for BRS
KCR urged people to defeat the Congress and the BJP who had pursued anti-people policies during their regimes
MEDAK: BRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has appealed to people to bless the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the upcoming election. Giving a clarion call to people to repose faith in the BRS, which has performed extremely well in perching Telangana as the top performing state in India, KCR urged people to defeat the Congress and the BJP who had pursued anti-people policies during their regimes.
Addressing a huge public meeting titled ‘Pragathi Shankaravam' in Medak on Wednesday, couple of days after announcing BRS candidates for the upcoming Telangana polls, KCR said, "The BJP is forcing (states) to install smart power meters in farm lands. Rs 25,0000 crore will be wasted in that exercise. I will not allow that happen," KCR said.
Targetting the Congress, KCR said that the grand old party failed to implement the promises it made after it won the Karnataka elections. “They are only delivering 7 hours of power to farmers while Telangana is providing uninterrupted power for 24 hours,” he said.
Cautioning people to look out for politicians during the election season, KCR said, "When elections come, people should show their strength. They should gauge who is speaking the truth and who isn’t. People should also revisit the past performances of all the parties.”
The Chief Minister also slammed the Congress for its proposal to roll back the Dharani portal.
"Previously, you (farmers) had to go through many levels of bureaucracy, including the Village Revenue Officer (VRO), revenue tahsildar, RDO, joint collector, district collector, revenue secretary, CCLA and revenue minister, to get anything done with your land. But now, with the Dharani portal, you have the power to manage your land records yourself. Not even the Chief Minister can change your land records without your consent," he said.
During the meeting, KCR announced a lot of sops for Medak district. This includes a revenue division to Ramayampet which he promised to sanction on Thursday, funds for road re-development in Medak, a degree college each for Ramayampet and Kowdipally, a ring road around Medak, Rs 100 crore for tourism development at Edupayala temple, Rs 15 lakhs in special funds for the development of all the 469 gram panchayats in the Medak district and Rs 50 crore for the development of Medak municipality and Rs 25 crore for the development of Narsapur, Ramayampet, Tupran municipalities.
Earlier in the day, KCR inaugurated the BRS party office, District Superintendent of Police's office and integrated district offices complex in Medak. During the inauguration KCR said that there had been significant development in Telangana compared to other states which were formed about 60 and 70 years ago. He said that in just nine-and-a-half years, Telangana had grown to a level that other states could take as an example.
Lauding the State Government staff for their role in the progress of the State, KCR called upon the employees to not relax and work with the same commitment to achieve the goals.
"Telangana achieved wonderful progress in a short period of time. The State is number one in terms of per capita income and per capita power consumption. Telangana is the only State in the country to provide 24-hour power supply to every sector. There are about 50 lakh pensioners in the State.
“The fruits of the development are being enjoyed because of the efforts of the ministers, public representatives and Government staff. We need to go further. The quest for excellence must continue. A step forward should be taken. You should be part of the progress,” he said.
