HYDERABAD: BRS party president and former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has warned the State Government of staging a deeksha at the 125ft Ambedkar Statue, along with 1.30 lakh Dalits, if the 'Dalit Bandhu' benefits are not credited to the beneficiaries' accounts by the Congress Government.
KCR, who kickstarted the election campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, addressed Praja Ashirwada Sabha in Chevella on Saturday at Chevella. He slammed the Congress Government, stating, "The Congress promised Rs 12 lakhs to Dalits but failed to deliver even Rs. 10 lakhs. Despite sanctioning Dalit Bandhu for 1.30 lakh Dalits, the Congress froze accounts, halted proceedings, and reclaimed funds."
Highlighting the development during the BRS regime in Hyderabad, KCR pointed out the lack of progress under the Congress government, despite numerous assurances. He stressed the need for efficient resource utilisation, criticising the current government's lack of policy direction.
Referring to the achievements during his tenure, KCR said, "We addressed farmers' concerns with initiatives like Rythu Bandhu, quality electricity, farmer insurance, and crop purchase, ensuring their welfare.
Expressing his intent to protest alongside Dalits, KCR said, "I will lead a deeksha with 1.30 lakh Dalits at the Ambedkar Statue until Rs. 10 lakhs are released for Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries. We initiated programmes benefiting various communities and will hold the government accountable."
KCR questioned the current government's shortcomings, including power supply inconsistencies and the stalled Mission Bhagiratha scheme. He urged people to scrutinise these issues in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Asserting the need for a robust opposition, KCR said, "The BRS aims to hold the government accountable and fulfill its promises. The BRS needs to win in all seats.
People need a hunter to question the Congress, so vote for Kasani Gnaneshwar. The BRS will always be there for Telangana and I will continue to fight for Telangana's people."
Criticising the Congress's unfulfilled promises, KCR questioned the absence of gold and scooties pledged under the Kalyana Laxmi scheme and highlighted the stagnation in the real estate sector.
On Ambedkar Jayanti, KCR recalled Dr BR Ambedkar's vision, citing the transformative impact of his governance on Dalit empowerment. He underscored Telangana's tribute to Ambedkar and emphasised the importance of continuing initiatives for the welfare of Dalit Bahujan communities.
Addressing Ranjith Reddy's party switch, KCR questioned his allegiance and urged a firm response to such political opportunism.
Discussing the repercussions of voting the BJP, KCR said, "It is either between Modi or the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Join the BJP or you will be jailed if you are against them. Vote for the BJP and motors will be set up for agriculture meters."
