KHAMMAM: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that the Indian Constitution was in existential crisis due to the unethical practices being adopted by the BJP and RSS. Hailing Telangana as the soil of struggles and genuine movements, he complimented Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for embarking on a mission aimed at political course correction.

Speaking at the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) public meeting in Khammam the Chief Minister said that a political formation that was not part of our national freedom struggle is in power in the country. “Though amidst the glam and glitter of celebrations like ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ they tend to undo the very basic values like sovereignty, republic, secularism, equality and democracy on which our nation was built,” added the Chief Minister.

“By allowing constant appeasement to corporate, signing several international defense agreements, by seeking to replace parliamentary democracy with presidential form of governance, enacting laws that divide people on communal basis, the Union Government has constantly attacked the basic foundation on which the nation was built,” lamented Vijayan.

Taking a dig at the central government, he said, “The Union Government is constantly attempting to destroy the federal system by implementing laws welfare schemes and passing bills without taking the state government opinion into consideration.” The right to take loan is curbed, additional resources are sealed along with this the funds that are made available to the states by the constitution too are denied, he said.

The Chief Minister said that the nation though divided by culture and languages, multi-party ruling system facilitates and promotes diversities while also remaining united. “Efforts are being taken to portray Hindi as the national language sidelining the regional languages. Imposing Hindi by doing away with our mother tongue will affect the integrity of the nation,” he expressed.

The Chief Minister said that such attacks are acute in the states that oppose the BJP-RSS government ruling the nation. “We do not have an option but to resist these moves unitedly. The Kerala government and its people are with the Telangana government in all their people-welfare initiatives,” said Vijayan.
