Kodangal Ex-MLA Gurunath Reddy quits BRS, joins Congress
Ex-MLA Gurunath Reddy played a key role in the victory of the BRS in the previous elections by gaining 30,000 votes for himself
HYDERABAD: Senior leader in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former MLA from Kodangal Gurunath Reddy joined the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Friday, leaving the BRS party in a state of shock.
Gurunath Reddy, who won from Kodangal for seven terms, joined hands with Telangana PCC president A Revanth Reddy. Along with him, Kodangal Municipal Chairman Jagadishwar Reddy and MPP Muddappa Deshmukh also joined the Congress party.
Ex-MLA Gurunath Reddy played a key role in the victory of the BRS in the previous elections by gaining 30,000 votes for himself in the Kondangal constituency.
TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy and Gurunath Reddy reportedly discussed organising a padayatra in Kodangal Assembly constituency to campaign against the BRS.
It appears that Revanth Reddy is likely to contest from Kodangal in the next Assembly elections. The joining of Gurunath Reddy into the Congress will surely dent the prospect of the BRS in the constituency.
