HYDERABAD: Former minister Koppula Eshwar has accused Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of making false statements regarding the installation of smart meters on agricultural motors.

Eshwar claimed that Revanth Reddy and the Congress party had consistently argued that the smart meter agreement would place a financial burden on electricity consumers. Responding to Revanth Reddy's statements in the Assembly, Eshwar emphasized that the BRS government, under K Chandrashekhar Rao's leadership, strongly opposed the central government's proposal to install meters on agricultural pumps. He cited a potential financial burden of Rs 30,000 crores as the reason for this opposition.

Eshwar accused the Chief Minister of deliberately attempting to tarnish the image of KCR and the BRS party. He warned that the Congress party's promise of not installing meters on motors if elected proved false. He urged the people of Telangana to recognize and resist the Congress government's alleged schemes and to protect the state's interests.
