HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of attempting to deceive the public regarding the Musi River beautification project.

Speaking at a PowerPoint presentation on the Musi at Telangana Bhavan, KTR claimed that the Congress government's initiative was not aimed at beautification but at looting public funds. He alleged that Revanth Reddy’s recent efforts were an attempt to cover up his own mistakes.

KTR criticised the Chief Minister’s remarks, saying that Revanth Reddy exposed his "complete ignorance" in his two-and-a-half-hour presentation. "What he presented were lies, half-truths, and baseless arguments. He claimed surveys that were never conducted, and the public knows that no such surveys were done in the Musi catchment area," KTR remarked. He further noted that residents of the area had stated that no survey teams visited their homes, contradicting Revanth Reddy’s claims of ongoing assessments over the past two months.

Additionally, KTR highlighted that the destruction of homes in the Musi River area was met with public outrage. He pointed out that videos circulating on social media showed workers expressing distress over demolitions. "Even a worker who came to demolish homes was seen lamenting in the video, which clearly showed the pain caused by these actions," KTR said.

Taking a dig at the Chief Minister, KTR said, "Revanth Reddy's supposed love for Musi is only to fill the sacks destined for Delhi." He accused the Congress government of misleading the public with false estimates and exaggerated costs related to the project, adding that this was why people now saw the Congress initiative as 'lootification' rather than beautification.

KTR also mentioned that Revanth Reddy had been attempting to deflect blame as his misdeeds were being exposed. He alleged that Congress leaders had devised a plan to siphon off Rs 1.5 lakh crore under the guise of the Musi project, saying that the public was becoming increasingly aware of this scam. "People see through the empty promises of Congress. Just like you buried the six guarantees, you are now fooling the people with 420 promises," KTR asserted.

He further criticised the Congress government’s motives, saying, "This so-called Musi beautification is just a way for Revanth to collect funds for Delhi. His love for Musi is all about sending sacks of money to Delhi." Drawing a parallel to demonetisation, KTR remarked, "Just like how Modi made conflicting statements during note ban, Revanth Reddy is now making contradictory statements about Musi every day."
