HYDERABAD: BRS Working President and Sircilla MLA K Taraka Rama Rao challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, stating that if the Congress government could prove it had created even a single new job in the past eight months, he would resign and retire from politics.

During a discussion on the Appropriation Bill in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, KTR highlighted that during the Assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi had promised to release a job calendar annually and fill 200,000 jobs within a year. He criticised these promises, likening them to Joseph Goebbels' propaganda, and demanded proof of the 30,000 jobs the Congress claimed to have created in the budget speech.

KTR outlined the timeline of job notifications and exams conducted under the previous KCR government, including notifications for staff nurses in December 2022, exams in August 2023, Singareni jobs in June 2022 with exams in September 2022, and police constable jobs with notifications in April 2022, prelims in August 2022, physical tests in January 2023, and mains exams in April 2023. He argued that the current Congress government was misleading the public and unemployed youth by taking credit for these jobs.

The BRS leader further criticised the Congress government for failing to release a job calendar and accused them of running a campaign of lies instead of fulfilling their promises. He challenged Revanth Reddy and Bhatti Vikramarka to visit Ashok Nagar and Osmania University without security to verify if any youth could claim to have received a new job under the Congress government. He declared that if anyone could prove the creation of new jobs, he would resign and retire from politics on the spot. He also promised to organise a grand public felicitation for the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister on behalf of his party if they could substantiate their claims.

KTR launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing it of making grand promises in its election manifesto but failing to deliver in the budget. He highlighted the discrepancies between the Congress's promises and their budgetary allocations.

He recalled the uncertain situation in June 2014, when the then Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy predicted a power crisis and other challenges for the newly formed Telangana state. He mentioned fears of investment flight, communal tensions, and a resurgence of Naxalism. However, KTR proudly stated that Telangana has emerged as a prosperous state, as evidenced by the socio-economic outlook presented to the Assembly.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Telangana has continued to generate wealth and improve its economic standing. KTR emphasised that the state's progress was undeniable and that the government was responsible for working together for the next four and a half years to fulfill the promises made to the people.

KTR alleged that the budget speech was filled with empty promises and lacked substantial guarantees. He accused the government of making grand declarations without backing them up with concrete actions. KTR also highlighted issues such as unemployment, attacks on journalists, and the plight of weavers and auto drivers, accusing Congress of failing to address these problems effectively.

In his speech, KTR expressed hope that Bhatti Vikramarka would aspire to higher positions in the future, acknowledging his capabilities. He urged the government to remember past challenges and work towards a better future for Telangana.
