NIRMAL: Minister for IT and Industries KT Rama Rao inaugurated the Rs 714 crore Laxminarasimha Swamy Lift Irrigation Scheme built under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) at Gundampalli in Nirmal district on Wednesday.

The Minister also visited the delivery cistern located at Madegao in Dilawarpur and offered prayers to the Godavari water. The much-awaited project was built under the 27th package of the KLIP aimed at irrigating 50,000 acres in 99 villages of the Nirmal Assembly constituency.

Speaking on the occasion KTR said that people gave 11 chances to rule the State but they failed to provide irrigation water. “Under K Chandrashekar Rao there is greenery every and there is no drought,” KTR said.

He added that the BRS Government built 17 new projects in the State. He said that very soon Chanaka Korata and Sadarmat projects will also be inaugurated.

With the Minister switching on the pump house at Dilawarpur, the long pending demand of the district became a reality. The work on the project began in 2008 but was delayed due to lack of funds. The works speeded up after KTR and Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy took special care.

Under the project, the backwaters of the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) would be lifted to Dilawarpur, Laxmanchanda, Soan and Mamada mandals.

On Wednesday, 140 cusecs of water was lifted from the delivery cistern through a 29.50 kilometer-left plank canal. About 100 cusecs of water would be provided to farms with the help of a 13.5 km long right canal.

The second pump could irrigate 5,000 acres with the help of two canals. A pump house built under the third unit could lift water into a reservoir at Medipalli in Soan mandal. A 17.5 km left canal and 1.9 km right canal would be able to irrigate 13,000 acres in Nirmal Rural and Mamada mandals.
