HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K. Taraka Rama Rao has raised serious concerns about the waste management situation in Hyderabad.
In a post on the micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, KTR pointed out that garbage piles are visible throughout the city, with approximately 1,000 Swachh autos not functioning. He emphasised that the accumulation of waste in slums and colonies has led to a surge in mosquito populations, causing seasonal diseases like dengue, malaria, and diarrhoea, severely affecting the residents.
KTR criticised the current waste removal efforts, stating that they exist only on paper. He also noted the lack of surprise inspections by the Mayor and officials, which has led to a decline in sanitation maintenance.
Furthermore, without naming Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR referred to him as a part-time municipal minister and accused the chief minister, who is supposed to oversee these issues, of being preoccupied with purchasing MLAs and making frequent trips to Delhi.
KTR urged the government to wake up from its slumber, keep the city clean, and protect the health of its citizens.
