HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao has assured assistance for the educational needs of a financially disadvantaged tribal girl from Telangana. Despite securing a seat at the prestigious IIT Patna, the girl is forced to graze goats to support her family.

Badavath Madhulatha, a resident of Rajanna Sircilla village, achieved an impressive 824th rank in the JEE exams under the ST category, earning her a place at IIT Patna. However, her family's precarious financial situation means she is struggling to gather the Rs 3 lakh required for the hostel and other expenses by July 27, jeopardising her academic future.

While tuition fees are waived for ST students, the cost of living and other expenses pose a significant barrier. Madhulatha's family, primarily dependent on farm labour, cannot afford even a regular degree college. Her father's illness has further exacerbated their financial strain, forcing Madhulatha to contribute by grazing goats.

Bukya Lingam Nayak, a faculty member at Madhulatha's former junior college, highlighted the family's plight, stating that she might have to forgo her IIT seat without financial assistance.

Madhulatha's story gained attention on social media, prompting a response from KTR, who is celebrating his birthday today. Responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter), the BRS leader assured support, stating, "Has come to my notice. Will take care of her educational needs."
