HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao testified in a defamation case against Telangana state minister Konda Surekha.

KTR alleged that her comments had caused severe damage to his personal and political reputation. His statement was recorded at the Nampally Special Court for 30 minutes.

During the court proceedings, KTR expressed his distress over Surekha's remarks, which he described as highly objectionable given his long-standing public life. When the judge asked him to elaborate on the nature of the comments, KTR declined to repeat them, citing his respect for women. He mentioned that Surekha had made derogatory remarks against him and actress Samantha, which he found deeply offensive. KTR submitted a written complaint detailing the comments instead of verbalising them in court.

KTR accused Konda Surekha of making false and malicious statements aimed at tarnishing his image. He stated that Surekha had publicly called him a "drug addict" and accused him of organising rave parties. He further revealed that his close associates - Dasoju Sravan, Balka Suman, and Satyavati Rathod - had informed him about Surekha's comments after seeing them on television. He stressed that these remarks were part of a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation and the image of the BRS party.

The court has adjourned the hearing to October 30 for further proceedings.
