HYDERABAD: In a vindication of his meteoric rise in politics and popularity, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao has emerged at the top of the best-performing Telangana ministers. This came to the fore in a survey conducted by independent group ‘Janamsakshi’ which has earned the reputation over the years in gauging the public pulse with great precision.

Closely following the IT Minister was his cousin and Minister for Finance Tanneeru Harish Rao and Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy. KTR’s overwhelming 99 percent of approval/satisfaction rating from the public for his all-round work was not just confined to his portfolios but for his active contribution across sectors in the state.

The survey findings come in as a heartening reflection of KTR’s relentless efforts to attract investments from within India and overseas and an unflinching commitment to all-encompassing development. Representing Sircilla, the son of Telangana’s saviour KCR, has worked in a multi-faceted manner over the last 10 years. He not only held sway in the hinterlands of his constituencies but made his presence felt across many global destinations. The fact that he is in the forefront of Ministers who are able to endear the masses is a tribute to his inimitable style of functioning: It comes blended with a suave personality that is the cynosure of all eyes on business and corporate planks and a fierce warrior tearing apart his rivals on the political front.

The BRS working president is the proud recipient of worthy compliments in his own constituency of Sircilla where people look up to him as a man who could develop their area on multiple fronts, something that the political regimes failed to fathom in the last 50 years. In one of the most satisfying accomplishments, people across the state believe that KTR was instrumental in arresting the starvation deaths and suicides of handloom workers. The general public is also quick to attribute the constant flow of investments into Telangana from a host of national and international industry behemoths.

In the survey, people also expressed their satisfaction over KTR’s stupendous work even as the Minister for Municipal and Urban Development, something that complements a prevailing perception among the officials. They see the proof of it in the dime a dozen ‘Swaccha’ awards being received by the state from the Centre. The dynamic Minister has also been receiving widespread appreciation for striking a balance between the conservation and restoration of Hyderabad’s heritage sites and changing the face of the historical Deccan city. As the approval ratings prove, they express their immense faith that KTR would eventually transform Hyderabad into a world-class city.

In the ‘Janamsakshi’ survey, KTR received a whopping 99 percent endorsement from the public for his work as a Telangana Minister. He is followed by Harish Rao, who, 97 percent think, has done well enough to be the second most efficient minister. The vox populi has it that Harish Rao, while being constantly accessible to his constituency’ people, has also been parallelly striving hard as the health minister for improving the hospital infrastructure and the quality of services rendered by the staff. Maatha Sisu (Women and child) care centres and the implementation of Kanti Velugu scheme are being particularly well-appreciated by the people.

His impact on the irrigation sector is so indelible that people continue to see Harish Rao as synonymous with the sector even long after he relinquished the portfolio following his appointment as Finance Minister. His decision to have night sleepovers at project sites to constantly monitor the progress of their construction crop up even now as anecdotes in public discussion.

Third in the best list of ‘Janamsakhi’ survey is Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, regarded as an authority on ‘anything agriculture’, carrying the most intricate details at his fingertips. He lost from Wanaparthy in 2014 by a wafer-thin margin. But the way he shrugged off the electoral shock and worked hard as the vice-chairman of the state planning commission and transformed his constituency has earned him the respect from all quarters. Currently the Agriculture Minister, Niranjan Reddy has another unique distinction for his contribution to the irrigation sector. That people fondly address him as ‘water minister’ (neella manthri) is a manifestation of his recognition beyond his agriculture portfolio. His efforts for improved irrigation facilities, particularly in reviving the once-drought-prone district of Mahabubnagar into what it is today, is well-remembered and widely acknowledged.

The people who gave him the approval ratings in the survey also refer to his work in successfully implementing farmer-friendly schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Beema (farmer insurance) across Telangana.
