HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao has appealed to the Congress government to take measures to prevent further tragedies following student deaths in government hostels. Expressing his sorrow over the recent incidents, he urged the government to prioritize the well-being of students and refrain from politicizing the issue.

KTR visited the family of Anirudh, a student who recently died from a snake bite at a government school in Peddapur. During his visit to the family in Racharla Boppapur, Sircilla district, he expressed his condolences and expressed that Anirudh's death deeply saddened everyone.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, KTR revealed that 36 students had died in government hostels over the past eight months due to various reasons, including food poisoning, snake bites, and other suspicious circumstances. He also mentioned an incident where 500 students were hospitalized due to food poisoning.

Rama Rao emphasized the government's responsibility towards the students in its care. He reminded the government that it should be a guardian to the six lakh students studying in government hostels and welfare schools. He urged the government to learn from the expertise of R.S. Praveen Kumar, who had previously made significant improvements to the government hostels. The BRS party plans to form a committee under Kumar's leadership to study 20 schools and submit a report within five days.

He urged the government to provide financial assistance to the families of the 36 deceased students and take necessary precautions to prevent similar incidents. He stressed that the government should prioritize the well-being of the students and ensure the quality of food and hygiene in hostels. He also suggested that collectors and officials conduct surprise inspections of these hostels to assess the situation.
