HYDERABAD: Landlords across Telangana have locked several Gurukul Schools and residential hostels operating in rented buildings, citing nine months of unpaid rent from the state government. This protest has affected numerous minority residential schools, leaving students and teachers stranded outside as they returned after the Dussehra holidays.

The closures have impacted institutions in areas such as Tungaturthi, Bellampalli, Tandur, Warangal, Bhupalpally, Huzurnagar, and Bhongir, where landlords took action by locking the premises. The Telangana Gurukul Educational Institutions' Private Building Owners Association has demanded immediate payment of the pending dues to prevent further disruptions.

Students and staff were left waiting outside the locked buildings, with classes unable to resume as scheduled. The association has warned of continued closures if the government fails to clear the outstanding rent.
