HYDERABAD: Home Minister Amit Shah said that the efforts of the Congress to launch Rahul Gandhi will fail one more time.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Amit Shah said that the Congress tried to convince people to elect Rahul Gandhi but would be disappointed for the 21st time.

Predicting a clear-cut edge for the BJP in Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the Home Minister said that the BJP would win 10 seats in Telangana and had an edge in the remaining seats.

He said that people chose the BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi who never took a day off and even celebrated Deepavali with the soldiers at the border posts. “On the other side, you have the headstrong Congress steeped in Rs 12 lakh crore corruption,” he said.

He said in ten years the BJP-led NDA achieved internal security, improved economy, strengthened infrastructure, start-up ecology, and digitization. “In 2014 Telangana was a revenue surplus State. But in ten years of the BRS rule it fell behind many other states.

Amit Shah added that Telangana received a grant in aid of Rs 60,000 crore whereas its sibling State of Andhra Pradesh received only Rs 15,000 crore. He said the Narendra Modi Government provided huge amounts of funds for Telangana, particularly in the development of airports and national highways. “However, the family-run Government and corrupt practices hurt the development,” he pointed out.

Fed up with the BRS people decided to vote for BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, he said adding that the Majlis was the real force behind the BRS. Reiterating that the BJP after coming to power would scrap the 4 percent Muslim reservations, he said that the religion-based reservations would usurp the chances of other weaker sections.

He said that the Congress Government in Telangana failed miserably in implementing the promises. “They said Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver would be implemented on Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. But they didn’t tell which birthday,” he said.

He said that the Telangana Congress had been acting as an ATM for the Congress party. He opined that the recent observations of Congress leaders Mani Shankar Aiyar and Farooq Abdullah were downright anti-national.

“India is the third country to successfully conduct surgical strikes. We will not tolerate anyone who tries to cross our borders or interfere in the internal matters of India. We will not only enter their territory and strike them,” the Home Minister said.

Commenting on the bail for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Shah said that all he got was time to participate in the ongoing elections and it was not a clean chit.

He also refuted allegations that the Centre was scuttling investments into Telangana and said that it was the bad image that the Congress Government had in Telangana that was driving investments away. “Let Revanth Reddy clarify that with the PM,” he said.
