Lawyers demand suspension of Madannapet police officers for allegedly assaulting advocate MA Kaleem.
HYDERABAD: Lawyers staged a protest demanding action against the Madannapet police officers who allegedly assaulted advocate MA Kaleem.
Kaleem has been representing Musi River evictees in court over disputes regarding double-bedroom houses that were previously allocated to them. According to Kaleem, the police targeted him, raided his house, and forcibly took him away in a vehicle, subjecting him to physical abuse and verbal harassment.
Following this incident, several lawyers gathered in protest, calling for the immediate suspension of the police officers involved. They also held a demonstration at the Director General of Police (DGP) office in Lakdikapul, blocking the road and causing significant traffic disruption.
The lawyers demanded strict action against the officers and expressed frustration over the increasing incidents of attacks on legal professionals in the state. They also threatened to intensify their agitation if strict measures were not taken against those involved in the assault on MA Kaleem. They reiterated that the government must ensure the safety and respect of advocates.
