HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao condemned the decision of the Telangana Government to limit the Rs 500 bonus only for fine variety of rice, contrary to its poll-time promise to release bonus to all varieties of paddy.

Taking to X on Tuesday KTR said that the Congress once again cheated the farmers by retracting from implementation of a promise it made in its manifesto.

“This is not a pro-farmer Government. This is an anti-farmer Government. First, the Government refused to give irrigation and timely power resulting in large-scale crop damage, then delayed paddy procurement resulting in the drenching of paddy,” he said.

He said that the Congress promised Rs 15,000 ‘Rytu Bharosa’ assistance for farmers and tenant farmers and Rs 12,000 for farm labour. “Congress also promised Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver to be delivered on December 9, 2023. Now the Congress announced another bogus policy by refusing bonuses to all varieties of paddy,” KTR said.

Criticising the dual nature of the Congress. KTR said that the Congress which had cheated the voters during the Assembly elections, now deceived the farmers in the name of bonus after the Lok Sabha elections. “The State that neglected the farmers and farming won't prosper. The farmers also won't leave the Revanth Reddy Government without taking revenge. They will question the anti-farmer policies of the Congress Government, the count down for the Congress has begun,” he said.
