HYDERABAD: Illegal liquor sales are causing a stir in some parts of Telangana, with sellers operating freely without fearing consequences.

Instead of the traditional "belt shops," liquor is now being openly sold on the streets, turning them into impromptu drinking spots where people can enjoy their drinks as they wish.

Despite promises from the Congress Government to shut down belt shops across Telangana, the reality on the ground seems different. Liquor is being peddled directly on the roadside, eliminating the need for an official store setup. Sellers are opting for a simple cardboard box to conduct their trade.

A video has surfaced showing a woman selling liquor on the streets near the Deccan Cements factory, close to Jan Pahad Dargah in Palakeedu Mandal, Huzurnagar constituency, Suryapet district. Carrying 180 ml bottles of liquor, she confidently shows labels when questioned about the authenticity of the products. Surprisingly, she claims to have permission to sell liquor openly and reveals that she's not alone; four others are doing the same.

This blatant disregard for regulations has left locals demanding immediate intervention from the concerned authorities to end this sidewalk liquor market.
