Mallikarjun Kharge accuses KCR of making Telangana a debt-ridden State
Kharge said, "When Telangana was formed, it was a financially surplus State. Now there is a debt of Rs 5 lakh crore which translates to Rs 1.5 lakh debt per person in the State."
SANGAREDDY: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge has accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) of making Telangana a debt-ridden State in his nine-year rule.
Speaking at a public meeting here on Sunday, Kharge said, "When Telangana was formed, it was a financially surplus State. Now there is a debt of Rs 5 lakh crore which translates to Rs 1.5 lakh debt per person in the State."
The AICC president reminded that it was Indira Gandhi who had given jobs to the youth in Telangana after she became an MP from Medak which made her the Prime Minister.
"This is a place where Indira Gandhi set foot and became an MP from Medak and later became a Prime Minister. If Indira Gandhi would not have been elected from here, public sector institutions like BHEL, BDL and Ordinance Factory would not have been established. She gave jobs to people here," he said.
Accusing the BRS of back-stabbing the Congress, Kharge said, "KCR and BRS leaders are speaking against the Congress. It was Sonia Gandhi who granted Telangana. But the BRS is disregarding Sonia Gandhi. After honouring her for granting Telangana, they ditched her. Without her, this State would not have been formed."
Attacking the BJP, Kharge said that only corporates were benefitted by Modi.
"Adani's income has doubled in nine years. Modi had boasted that he will provide jobs to two crore people every year but 3 lakh jobs are vacant in Central Government institutions. How can Modi lie about giving Rs 15 lakh? Everyone knows who the BJP's B-team is in this State. Both these Governments have no intention of benefiting the youth by giving jobs," Kharge said.
Earlier, speaking at the event, TPCC president Revanth Reddy said, "Over the past 10 years of his rule, KCR has consistently failed to fulfill his promises, including grant of double-bedroom houses, three acres of land for Dalits, jobs for every household, 12 per cent reservation for minorities and ST, and unemployment dole for youth for 60 months."
Alleging corruption in Kaleshwaram project, Revanth said, "Corruption in Kaleshwaram project went upto Rs 1 lakh crore. The Medigadda barrage has been damaged due to corruption under his administration. I challenge KCR. I will arrange a bus for you and we will visit the Medigadda barrage to see your work, and from there, let's travel to Karnataka to enquire the implementation of Congress guarantees."
