Mancherial hits record 47.2 degrees, hottest in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Amid severe heatwaves across North India, Bheemaram in Mancherial district in East Telangana recorded the highest temperature of 47.2 degrees celsius on Thursday.

Considering the highest temperature in Mancherial district and breaking the May record, Telangana Weatherman T Balaji said it was the hottest day of the year. While Mancherial was the hottest in Telangana, Hyderabad city also witnessed severe heat with a temperature of 43.3 degrees Celsius.

According to the Telangana Weatherman, the state will experience three more days of severe heatwave ahead of the onset of the monsoon. South and Central Telangana are expected to experience heavy thunderstorms after June 1, while North Telangana will continue to remain hot with isolated and scattered rains only.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the Southwest Monsoon has set over Kerala and advanced into most parts of Northeast India on May 30, 2024.

Monsoon 2024 is expected to reach South Telangana and Hyderabad by June 8, 2024, but it will be delayed in North Telangana until the second week of June. Rains will begin in South Telangana and Hyderabad after June 1, but monsoon winds are expected to arrive by June 7 or 8, 2024.

June 1 (Yellow): Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal of Telangana.

June 2 (Yellow): Thunderstorm accompanied with Lightning and Gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) Very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts Nalgonda, Suryapet, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal of Telangana.

June 3 (Yellow): Thunderstorm accompanied with Lightning and Gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) Very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts Adilabad, Komarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar of Telangana.
