HYDERABAD: In a significant development, Maoist leader Sujathakka, also known as Kalpana, the wife of the late Maoist central committee member Kishan Ji, has reportedly been taken into police custody.

According to uncofirmed reports, Sujathakka was detained while in Mahabubnagar. Currently, she is said to be serving as the in-charge of the South Sub-Zonal Bureau and is also a member of the central committee of the Maoist party.

Reports suggest that Sujathakka, along with three other Maoist leaders - Mine Bai, Padma, and Jhansi Bai - was apprehended based on precise intelligence. However, official confirmation from police authorities is still pending.

Sujathakka’s husband, Kishan Ji (Malloji Koteshwar Rao), was a prominent Maoist leader who was killed in an encounter with security forces in Burishol, West Bengal, in 2011. Kishan Ji hailed from Peddapalli district in Telangana, and his brother is also believed to be active in the Maoist central committee, though he remains underground.

Sujathakka has reportedly been involved in Maoist activities for many years and has been sought by authorities since her husband's death. She is currently believed to be around 60 years old. Sources indicate that she had been residing in the forested areas of South Bastar, Chhattisgarh, where she was involved in overseeing party operations. It remains unclear why she ventured out of her hideout. There is speculation that she may have traveled to Mahabubnagar for medical treatment or sought shelter in the region.

While there are reports of her detention, details such as the exact time and place of her arrest have not yet been disclosed. Additionally, her involvement in the "Krantikari Janatan Sarkar" (Revolutionary People's Government) remains a subject of interest, as she is believed to have held key responsibilities in the group.

As of now, no official statement has been released by the police regarding her arrest or the circumstances leading to it.
