SIDDIPET: BRS Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was stabbed with a knife by a person identified as Gatani Raju when the MP was campaigning for BRS in Surampalli in Doultabad mandal of Siddipet district on Monday.
The MP with a bleeding injury to his stomach was immediately shifted in a vehicle and rushed to Gajwel for treatment. Supporters of the MP immediately caught hold of the attacker and thrashed him, before handing him over to the police.
Minister T Harish Rao immediately contacted the MP and enquired about his health. Harish Rao while assuring all possible medical aid at Gajwel said that if needed the MP would be shifted to Hyderabad.
From Gajwel, the injured leader was shifted to Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad by road in an ambulance. The doctors immediately attended to him. It was reported that the knife stuck to a depth of three inches and he was taken for surgery immediately.
Meanwhile, Siddipet Commissioner of Police N Swetha in a statement said that the investigation into the incident of knife attack had begun. She said that G Raju (38) of Chepyala village was arrested for attacking the MP by coming close to him in the guise of an activist.
The attacker Raju is a Congress activist and the netizens established his connections with the Congress by digging out his twitter account.
The netizens also published a photograph where Raju was participating in a campaign rally.
The CP said that the MP was shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment.
