HYDERABAD: As Telangana continues to experience relentless rains, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has been actively reviewing the flood situation across the state since Sunday morning.

The minister met with district collectors and disaster management officials to assess the conditions in affected areas, including Khammam, Kothagudem, Warangal, Suryapet, Nalgonda, and Hyderabad.

Minister Srinivas Reddy directed district collectors to remain vigilant and fully prepared to handle any challenges from the heavy rains. He emphasised the need for intensified relief operations in flood-prone areas, instructing officials to relocate residents from low-lying regions to safer locations immediately. The minister also called for the immediate establishment of rehabilitation centres in areas where necessary.

To bolster rescue efforts, Minister Srinivas Reddy ordered the deployment of rescue teams, including NDRF units, and the use of helicopters for evacuation and relief operations if required. He stressed that disaster management personnel must be available around the clock at the Secretariat to coordinate efforts and respond swiftly to emergencies.

The minister also highlighted the importance of ensuring uninterrupted electricity, drinking water, and transportation services during this critical period. He specifically reviewed the situation in Munugode, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, instructing the district collector to initiate immediate relief measures and take all necessary steps to prevent loss of life or property.
