BRS MLC Kavitha Kalvakuntla will appear before the ED for questioning on March 11 in the Delhi Liquor Scam case
HYDERABAD: BRS MLC Kavitha Kalvakuntla will appear before the ED for questioning on March 11 in the Delhi Liquor Scam case.
The Enforcement Directorate summoned Kavitha to appear for questioning on March 10. However, Kavitha has scheduled a dharna demanding reservations for women in legislative bodies at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on March 10.
Meanwhile, she has called on her father and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao before leaving for Delhi on Wednesday evening.
Rao told her the BRS legal cell would do everything to prevent a hostile arrest or any such act by the BJP-led Centre. He had reportedly told his daughter to stay bold.
Meanwhile, Ms Kavitha described the BJP Government’s actions as “political victimisation.” She asked the ED as to why she could not be questioned through video conferencing when it’s legally permitted. She sought to know as to why the ED was insisting on her physical presence.
Kavitha attributes political motives
In a letter to the ED late on Wednesday, Ms Kavitha said: “I being a responsible Indian citizen, and as a women of this Nation wish to exercise my rights provided under the law
“Further, I fail to understand as to why I have been summoned at such a short notice. It seems that certain political motives have been masquerading in the name of investigation. I categorically say that I have nothing to do with the present investigation. As stated , being a social worker and having prior commitments, I had already planned my schedule for the upcoming week, and the abrupt rejection of my request seems to be motivated by reasons best known to you, which demonstrates that it is nothing but “Political victimisation”.
“However, without prejudice to my rights and contentions available in law as well as equity, being a true and law abiding citizen of this country, I will appear at your good offices on 11.03.2023, as adamantly directed by you in the teeth of the laws mentioned hereinabove.
“You can be assured of my full cooperation in the matter.”
