MLC Kavitha writes to 47 political parties urging them to prioritise Women's Reservation Bill

HYDERABAD: BRS MLC Kavitha on Tuesday wrote a letter to 47 presidents of Indian political parties, urging them to prioritise the Women's Reservation Bill in the upcoming special session of Parliament.

MLC Kavitha emphasized the significant role of women in Indian discourse and the urgent need for their representation in legislative bodies, citing the 14 lakh active women in public life in her letter.

In her letter, Kavitha noted that the importance of this appeal could not be overstated. The Women's Reservation Bill proposed to reserve 33 percent of Lok Sabha and stated legislative assembly seats for women. Despite being an important step towards gender equality and inclusive governance, the bill had languished in legislative limbo for far too long.

MLC Kavitha emphasised the importance of inclusivity in our democracy, asserting that increased women's representation was not a matter of exclusivity but meant to build a more equitable and balanced political landscape. She urged all political parties to recognise the urgency of this matter and threw their weight behind the Women's Reservation Bill.
