Modi unveils Rs 13,500-Cr worth projects, declares National Turmeric Board, Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University for Telangana

MAHBUBNAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the establishment of the National Turmeric Board in Telangana and the Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University for Mulugu ditrict which will be built at a cost of Rs 900 crore.
Addressing a meeting in Mahbubnagar on Sunday, the Prime Minister said that turmeric became important in the cure of many diseases particularly after the pandemic the demand for turmeric quadrupled.
“For the turmeric value chain, from production to export we require a board to look after the affairs of turmeric, so we have decided to establish the National Turmeric Board. All turmeric farmers in the country will also benefit,” he said. He said that the Board would help farmers from cultivating turmeric to its processing and required infrastructure. He also declared the setting up of the much-awaited Central Tribal University named after tribal goddesses ‘Sammakka Sarakka’ at a cost of Rs 900 crore in Mulugu district. The PM said that the festivities this Navaratri began much earlier with the Parliament passing the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill.
Earlier, the PM inaugurated and laid the foundation virtually for projects worth Rs 13,500 crore. He dedicated to the nation the Rs 505 crore ‘Jaklair-Krishna’ line, under the Munirabad-Mahabubnagar section aimed at reducing the distance between Hyderabad and Goa by 102 km. Kacheguda-Raichur-Kacheguda demo service via Devarakadra was started from Krishna station.
Foundations for National Highways projects worth Rs. 6,404 crores were also laid. The Prime Minister laid the foundation for national highway projects to be built at a cost of Rs 6.404 crore. He inaugurated the Rs 2,457 crore NH 365 BB Suryapet-Khammam four-lane project.
He dedicated the Rs 2,661 crore Hasan-Charlapalli HPCL LPG pipeline. Prime Minister laid the foundation for the multi-product pipeline between Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad. PM also inaugurated newly built lecture halls, schools of economics, mathematics, statistics, management and arts and communications, built at a cost of Rs 81.27 crore at the Hyderabad Central University. He also declared the university as an Institute of Eminence.
