HYDERABAD: Villagers of rain-ravaged Moranchapalli village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district in Telangana on Friday breathed a sigh of relief after the State Government rescued them by deploying two Army helicopters on Thursday evening.

A 59-second video of a villager explaining the plight of Moranchapalli village during the floods went viral on social media platforms on Friday.

In the video, the villager said, “Moranchapalli was hit by rain like never before in the history of Telangana. It looks like rain, which we usually receive throughout the year, hit us on a single day, creating havoc. The entire village with 300 houses was inundated by an increase in flood water levels in a stream in the suburbs, giving a sleepless night for all.”

Several of the villagers were gripped in a panic following the floods. A few of them even climbed atop their houses, to save their lives. Going through the plight of the villagers, the State Government deployed two Army helicopters to rescue those stranded in the floods. Apart from that, engine boats were also deployed to shift the villagers to safer locations.

“We never thought of coming alive after seeing the surging floods surround our village. We will be always thankful to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy for their timely action by deploying helicopters and boats to rescue us from the crisis,” the villager said.
