HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said that Muharram symbolises sacrifice and tolerance. He noted that Muharram is observed to commemorate the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Hazrat Imam Hussain.

In a message to mark the Yaum-e-Ashura (the 10th day of Muharram), the Chief Minister recalled that both Hindus and Muslims have traditionally participated in the 'Peerla Panduga' mourning procession together in Telangana villages. He emphasised that this procession is a testament to the 'Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb' in Telangana.

Revanth Reddy highlighted that Muharram serves as a bridge for unity and harmony among people, regardless of their caste and religion.
