Murali Divi, Megha’s Pichi Reddy, Krishna Reddy lead Hyderabad’s billionaires in Hurun India Rich List 2024

Hyderabad ranks third in the Hurun India Rich List 2024, overtaking Bengaluru, with 104 billionaires.

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad has secured the position of the third-highest city for billionaires in India, as per the 2024 Hurun India Rich List. The city boasts 104 individuals on the list, trailing only Mumbai, which tops the chart with 386 individuals, and New Delhi, which follows with 217.

Notably, Hyderabad has surpassed Bengaluru for the first time, adding 17 new billionaires this year. Telangana has also made its mark at the national level, ranking fifth among Indian states in terms of the number of billionaires, reflecting its growing economic strength.

Murali Divi and family, the founders of Divi’s Laboratories, have been recognized as the fourth richest among pharmaceutical industrialists in India, with a wealth of Rs 76,100 crore. They rank 26th nationwide and are the richest in Hyderabad. C. Venkateswar Reddy of Aparna Constructions is among the top ten individuals in India with the highest percentage of wealth growth in 2024. S. Subramanian Reddy of Aparna Constructions is also among the top ten in the country for wealth growth percentage over the past five years. At just 30 years old, Ponguleti Harsha Reddy, son of Congress Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, stands out as one of the youngest billionaires from Hyderabad, with a wealth of Rs 1,300 crore. In the construction and engineering sector, P. Pichi Reddy of Megha Engineering (MEIL) is recognized as the wealthiest in his category, with Rs 54,800 crore.

Other prominent names from Hyderabad include P.V. Krishna Reddy of MEIL with Rs 52,700 crore, G.M. Rao of GMR Group with Rs 36,300 crore, P.V. Ramprasad Reddy of Aurobindo Pharma with Rs 35,100 crore, Bandi Prasad Reddy of Hetero with Rs 29,900 crore, and Prathap Reddy of Apollo Hospitals with Rs 28,400 crore. In a significant development, Nilima Prasad Divi, daughter of Murali Divi, has recently acquired two properties in Hyderabad with a combined value of Rs 80 crore. While Mumbai continues to lead the list with 66 new entrants this year, followed by New Delhi, Hyderabad’s remarkable growth in billionaire count, surpassing Bengaluru, underscores its rising importance as a hub for wealth creation.
