HYDERABAD: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi said that while Haryana and Manipur States were burning due to sectarian violence, the people of Telangana were living in harmony under the rule of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
Opening the short discussion on Progress, and achievement of Telangana State in nine years, in the Legislative Assembly on Sunday Akbaruddin Owaisi said that all religions were treated equally in Telangana. “We are not discriminated against the way we dress or pray in Telangana. We are not secondary grade citizens like in other parts of the country but equals in development, I am proud that I live in Telangana,” he said.
Thanking IT Minister KT Rama Rao for announcing financial assistance to the family of Saifuddin who died in firing in the Jaipur-Mumbai train he said that the hatred nurtured by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) between Hindus and Muslims vitiated the atmosphere in the country.
Muslim houses were not bulldozed in Telangana, the KCR g,overnment gave them 2BHK houses, he said. “In nine years there was not even a single clash between the communities. Love is spread in Telangana not hatred,” the Chandrayangutta MLA said praising the able leadership of KCR.
Enlisting several programmes implemented for the welfare of minorities in Telangana, he said that for a population of 50 lakh Muslims in Telangana allocation of funds was Rs 2,200 crore, whereas for four crore population of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh the allocation was a mere Rs 1,782 crore.
He said that AIMIM was not a Muslim-centric political party but a party that always protected the weak in society. “If in future Hindus in India become a weaker section, AIMIM will be there to protect them,” he said. He offered that Majlis leaders would lead the team to lay the foundation of a Telangana guest house in Ajmer in Rajasthan.
